Dental health is crucial for overall health. Poor dental health can lead to a number of other medical problems including heart disease, cancer, disorders of the face and jaw, and pre-term labor.
Luckily, there are a number of things that can be done to prevent oral disease.
- Brush your teeth with a toothpaste containing fluoride after every meal or at least twice a day. Flossing is something that is often forgotten, but is vital to complete oral health. You should floss at least once a day.
- Avoid foods, such as coffee, tea, and soft drinks that cause staining or yellowing of your teeth. Sugary foods and drinks cause plaque to grow, which leads to decay.
- Make it a priority to visit your dentist for routine cleanings at least twice a year, or more if suggested by your dentist.
Preventing oral disease will save you time, money, pain, and ensure overall health.
